Commissioner’s Digital Challenge
The Commissioner for Children and Young People (SA) wants to challenge all year 4-7 students in South Australia to complete four coding / digital thinking lessons in one year. This initiative is comparable to the Premier’s Reading Challenge but for the digital age.
The initiative needed to be branded to appeal to year 4–7 students of both genders and also represent “Digital” in a broad sense. The pixel makes up all digital interfaces. The combination of the pixel and the organic type shows the interplay between pixels and communication, showing what you can build with the humble pixel. ‘Challenge’ in a box and on an angle represents a digital stamp. This implies there is a challenge to be had and that action is needed. This simple typographic approach allows the campaign creative to shine through.
The first campaign for the Commissioner’s Digital Challenge is ‘Learn to speak robot’ which challenges students to learn code. Custom typography and fun imagery help this appeal to the broad spectrum of students.
